Centrifugation technology is mainly used for the separation and preparation of various biological samples. So what are the factors we need to pay attention to when choosing centrifuge tubes?
1. Capacity
The usual capacity of centrifuge tubes are 1.5mL, 2mL, 10mL, 15mL, 50mL, etc., which are more commonly used is 15mL and 50mL. It should be noted that when using a centrifuge tube, do not fill it up, up to 3/4 of the tube can be filled (Note: when ultracentrifugation, the liquid in the tube must be filled up, because the ultra separation requires high vacuum, only full to avoid deformation of the centrifuge tube). It is also important to ensure that the solution in the tube is not filled too little. This will ensure that the experiment is carried out smoothly.

When using glass tubes, centrifugal force should not be too large, you need to pad the rubber pad to prevent the tube from breaking.

Steel centrifuge tube is strong, not deformed, can resist heat, frost and chemical corrosion.
03.Plastic centrifugal tube
Commonly used materials include polypropylene (PP), polyamide (PA), polycarbonate (PC), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Among them, the PP polypropylene material centrifuge tube is popular because it can withstand high speed operation, can be autoclaved, and can withstand most organic solutions.
3. Relative centrifugal force
Centrifuge tube has the maximum speed it can withstand. When looking at the operating rate of a centrifuge tube, it is best to look at the RCF (Relative Centrifugal Force) rather than the RPM (Revolutions Per Minute) because the RCF (Relative Centrifugal Force) takes gravity into account. RPM only takes into account the rotor rotation speed.
So, when choosing a tube, calculate the maximum centrifugal force you need in order to find the right tube. If you do not need a high RPM, you can choose a tube with a relatively low centrifugal force to reduce the purchase cost.
