What Is the Cryo Tube Used For?

2024-10-25

Cryo tube has a wide range of application value in biology, medicine and other fields, and is mainly used for low-temperature transportation and storage of biological materials in laboratories.

1. Main uses

Biological material preservation: Cryo tube is a container commonly used in laboratories to preserve bacterial strains, which can be used for the preservation or transfer of bacterial strains. It can also be used to preserve other biological samples, such as cells, tissues, blood, etc., to maintain their biological activity under low temperature conditions.

Low-temperature transportation: Cryo tube can withstand extremely low temperatures and is suitable for storing and transporting biological materials in liquid nitrogen (gas and liquid phases) and mechanical freezers.

2. Features and advantages

Material and structure: Cryo tube is usually made of low-temperature resistant materials such as polypropylene and has good sealing performance. Some cryo tubes also have a star-shaped foot bottom design for easy one-handed operation in cryopreservation tube racks.

Certification and compliance: Many cryo tube products have passed CE, IVD and other certifications and meet IATA requirements for transporting diagnostic samples. This ensures their safety and compliance during low-temperature storage and transportation.

Sterility and non-toxicity: Cryo tube usually adopts aseptic processing technology and does not contain harmful substances such as pyrogens, RNAse/DNAse and mutagens to ensure the purity and safety of biological materials.

3. Precautions for use

Storage temperature: Cryo tube should be stored in a low temperature environment of -20℃ or -80℃ to ensure the long-term preservation of biological materials.

Sealing performance: When using cryo tube, ensure that the sealing cover is tightly closed to prevent air from entering and causing contamination or deterioration of biological materials.

Marking and recording: In order to facilitate management and tracking, the name, date, quantity and other information of the biological material should be clearly marked on the cryo tube, and a corresponding recording system should be established.
